Anybody know of blind or visually impaired musical artist?(self.Blind)
submitted by baredevilmattmurcock
So this is somewhat of a re-post because I deleted the original one because I put something in that was Miss information and it was really embarrassing and I felt dumb so thought I just redo it. But I’ve been wondering if anyone knows of blind or visually impaired musical artist other than the obvious ones like Stevie Nicks or Stevie Wonder so maybe like a smaller more in the lesser known ones would be really cool. I am open to any genres so just comment anything you may know of please and thank you.

Andrea Bocelli is a famous opera singer, and also is blind.

I’m legally blind and I used to play music, but have since committed myself to visual art making. Here is a link to my most recent project. I wrote the music and did vocals

Stevie Nicks isn't VI, she had scratched corneas due to an issue with her contacts but her eyes healed years ago.
Anyway, my favourite musician who happened to be blind was Jeff Healey who was a phenomenal guitarist.

Oh sorry didn’t know I had just always heard from my friend that she used to have tassels on her mic stand so she could easily find it

There was a period when she did have sight issues, due to those cornea problems and needed to be led on stage.

Johnny and Edgar Winter are both rock/jazz/blues musicians who have albinism and they're brothers

The first one coming to mind is Kimio Eto who was a true master of koto. I strongly recommend giving his art a try.

Doc Watson was one of the greatest bluegrass guitarists of all time, he was blind from early childhood. Definitely check him out if you like guitars or folk music.

Amadou and Miriam are an awesome Malian duo. Also the Blind Boys of Alabama if you like American Gospel.

Sammy Davis Jr. only had one eye. might not be what you are looking for but its worth a mention.

Check out QuestionATL if you like rap, he does all of it himself and he's featured a ton of other blind rappers and at least 2 blind singers iirc.

For a bit of Canadian content, $1 (Spotify link) was blind, and played his guitar on his lap. Great artist and it's a sad loss for music that he's gone.

Kevin Kern perhaps? I don't know much about him but I played some of his compositions on the piano a long time ago.
Fetty Wap also counts I believe. He does rap/hip-hop (again I'm not super familiar).
Andrea Bocelli has traditional-style music.
Edit: Just learned Jónsi is blind in one eye.

Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Jeff Healey, Sonny Terry, Rachael Leahcar. There's a multitude of others, these were just the first five I thought of as I woke up to this question.

There’s a brother music duo where the brother that plays piano is blind.
I unfortunately don’t know the name but it’s a pop/rock group as I watched them perform on SNL (or Colbert that’s the other show I regularly watch).
