Single Player Role Playing Game for Blind Person (self.Blind)
submitted by 74goldie
I am looking for a single player text based role playing game. I am newly blind. I want a single player game because I am still learning how to navigate my computer and do not want to slow anyone down. I want a game that has different armor, weapons and items. I want an RPG because I need something more mentally stimulating. I am hoping to find something that works well with JAWS or FUSION. The game "Dungeon Adventure" on Alexa is a simple version of what I am looking for. If there is a PC, Alexa, or ios game of this type of game, I would appreciate knowing about it. Also, if this type of game does not exist, would someone be interested in creating it together. I am newly retired and have lots of time on my hands. This may be a way to contribute to my new community. Thanks

Check out Alter Aeon. It's not single player, it's A MUD, but you can basically put yourself in Do Not Disturb mode which will make you invisible to other people and you can't interact with others.

It's got all that you ask for, except I don't know how similar or if at all it is to the Alexa games you mention.

It also has a pretty extensive soundpack.

On iOS try a game called Untold RPG. It is Voice over friendly. It is free until you reach a certain level, then you have to pay. Here is the App Store link.

If you're ever looking for a mobile game, check out A Dark Room. However, the web version is completely inaccessible, so you'll need to use the mobile app.

maybe, Manamon- however NVDA works as a better text to speech thing for that one as Jaws doesn't understand arrow keys with a game application very well. NVDA is free if you are interested. The other game that you could try, it isn't an RPG, but a Horror genre is a game called blindside. I'm sighted and even I enjoyed that one along with my husband. As far as video games go however there are not a lot of audio-based games in the world specifically created for the blind community. So I am sure that many people would be interested in more video games.
