MEN! What electronic Razors do you use? (self.Blind)
submitted by KC1162
So, My hubby lost his vision completely a few years back and has yet to explore the world of razors. He has used just a stick with blades on it but complains of getting cut all the time. So our routine for a lot of the time has been he grows his beard out, and then goes to the barber to shave it all off. HOWEVER, He has voiced that instead of letting his beard grow out and then shave it off with clippers at the barber that he would enjoy the morning shaving ritual again. So for Christmas, I was thinking of getting him an electronic razor that wouldn't really nick or cut him. But seeing that I am not only a woman, but also sighted I have no idea what to look for or what guys enjoy in a razor! Any pointers are appreciated!

Gillette. I shave in the shower to save time so electric wouldn’t be a good idea.

I have used several in the past, Norelco and Remington come to mind, but I have to tell you, that I think shaving with an electric razor, unless you’re trimming an incredibly bushy beard to get the majority of the hair gone quickly, is just plain awful, and I will never do it again. I get razor burn, and no matter how much I’ve paid for an electric razor, the shave I receive is never as clean as shaving with a safety razor. Buy some good five or seven blade safety razors, and a good shaving cream if you want the best shape possible.

Gillette fusion pro glide user here, if it’s the best a man can get why would you get any others?

Not a guy but my bf uses a Arc5 electric razor and he really likes it and has yet to get cut. It has five blades and works great from what he's said.

Pretty sure the brand is Philips.

Idk which one it is but I like the one with the three circles to shave

Yes I really wish I knew the name of this brand.

I don't even know the brand of mine, but essentially any electric razor with the circular blades will work. They won't nick the skin unless you really try.

I use a manual as well. I am low vision and use a gillette fusion. Worst cut i get is a pimple that got in the way

Personally I still use a safety razor when I am not in a hurry, and a rotary shaver (one of the newer self cleaning Braun models) when I am. It's a bit pricy but the self cleaning charging stand makes maintenance easier for me. If it's gotta be electric that would have my vote.

I definitely get a closer and cleaner shave with the safety razor though and replacement blades are super cheap. I put the head of the razor in a towel and twist the head off to replace the old blade, and replacements are individually wrapped in a bit of paper that just peels off. For the record I shave 100% by feel and do not (cannot) use a mirror. I haven't cut myself with the safety razor in years (neither shaving nor replacing the blade).

The multi blade cartridge razors (like Gillette etc) never worked well for me and would result in cuts and all kinds of irritation even when I could see.

Yes, when I go electric, I use the 790C, but any model in that series works. These are way pricier but last a lot longer. But a safety razor is definitely doable. Sounds like he just needs to work on technique, or perhaps put on a better before shave cream.
