Don't you love it when they phrase it like that. Cornea? Retina? Optic nerve? Visual cortex? which one of those are you fixing?

From the paper, quote: Botond Roska, who works in the Swiss city of Basel, has uncovered a gene-based therapy that reprograms cells in the human eye so that they can perform the work of the light-sensitive receptors needed for human vision, according to the Körber Foundation that hands out the annual prize. It is hoped the procedure will reactivate the retinas of the blind. End quote. So I suppose if your blindness is a result of your retina's not working, then this could potentially help you! Unfortunately, if your loss of vision is due to some other means, it doesn't seem very useful.

Does it get rid of scar tissue? I doubt it.

Agreed, little light on the details, plus not to be a jerk here, but fuck that site for using click bait on such important and potentially life changing medical matters.

Saying someone cured "blindness" is about the equivalent of saying someone cured "spinal injuries". I guess if you're a Trump supporter it may sound plausible to you, but for the rest of us who managed to maintain some critical thinking skills, it's pretty hollow and disingenious.

What is stargardts?

It's a genetic disease where your macula essentially dies and you lose central vision.

Is it ironic to anyone that this is happening in 2020?
