ID Cane Vs. Mobility Cane (youtube.com)

I tried an ID cane for a while, because my cane usage is pretty light-duty most of the time, but I found it to be uncomfortably flimsy on the occasions when I did need it. I've switched to just carrying a mobility cane.

Ambutech does 7-section mobility canes now (they used to only go up to 5 or 6) so you can get them really compact. Mine is about 11in long when folded and fits into my bag almost as well as the ID cane did. It's a small amount of extra weight, but it's so much more solid.

I can certainly see the appeal of them when. your cane usage is minimal, because they're super lightweight and compact, but I personally feel safer with the heavier cane.

Of course, if you're strictly using it for identification, then an ID cane is great, but most people I know who need one for ID purposes also need to use it for navigation on occasion, too.

Hey Thanks for Sharing. Yeah, I think you might be interested in the slimline cane from ambutech. Its very in between. Revolution makes a nice light graphite mobility cane

I've never heard of revolution. I have several canes but usually go for Ambutech graphite or occasionally the slimline.

Yeah, the slimline is the one I had - wasn't a fan.
