Google chromes get image descriptions is really useful. (self.Blind)

Edit: I like the feature but have decided to go back to NVDAs' OCR because I won't hear graphic all the time.

I have NVDA and it's OCR is great and that's mostly what I use but I thought, ok, I'll try googles image description thing out and was very impressed. It reads text just as well as the OCR for NVDA on windows 10 does. The only downside is it says graphic when you arrow down but apart from that; it's quite amazing.

It works fine for me. What sub are you trying it in?

I've decided that I prefer NVDAs' OCR because I won't hear graphic all the time but I can check it out for you if you like.

I tried badwomensanatemy and it worked fine.

Interesting, I wonder if Chrome on Mac has that feature? I have always found Chrome to be sluggish and so I stick with Safari. Might be worth looking into though.

It probably does, once you find a graphic with no alt text, go into the aplocations menu or whatever it's called on mac and arrow up a couple times and you should find image descriptions and a sub menu, look in there.

To turn it off, do the same thing but this time, look for image descriptions ticked and press enter to untick it.

I use firefox a lot more than chrome and have stopped using this feature because I got tired of hearing graphic, but it's great if you don't have OCR or want to try both on a picture.

Thank you. I know IOS 14 has some exciting new features surrounding photo and OCR recognition, and I'm hoping Big Sur, the Mac OS update, does"" as well. I was always hesitant to use Chrome because of privacy concerns. Safari and Fire Fox are much better choices, I think.

I don't mind using chrome, but prefer Firefox.

If you can use NVDAs OCR, I'd keep it as a backup as the google chrome thing is good, but sometimes really screws up the text where as the OCR doesn't.

Plus, hearing graphic can get quite annoying.
