Update on Launch pad (self.Blind)
submitted by Odd-Night-2604
Hello, thank you so much for all the awesome replies I’ve received in regards to my first launchpad post. I wanted to update everyone telling you that I got a refund yesterday. McGraw-Hill was so reluctant and they said we can only give you your refund for two weeks after you’ve purchased the product, so then I called again and said that the product is not working I need a refund, and at that point they gave me a refund. I also told them that launch pad is very in accessible, but they didn’t want to hear it. Let’s face it, none of these publishing companies care about Accessibility they just want to make money and that’s the truth of the matter. To be honest I was very frustrated yesterday, and told them that they can continue going at the rate they’re going, but they are making students face multiple barriers with their platform not being accessible.
It just gets me so infuriated how so many colleges are switching to these online platforms with the textbook and assignments in a package... and these bigger corporations are failing to listen to us about Accessibility... because at the end of the day we are the ones that are suffering.
Thank you so much for reading and have a great day

I’m so happy to hear that you got a refund at least. That’s the least they can do.
I also have to use launchpad and I can’t access it. It really sucks.
Big corporations don’t care about blind people. Did you know that some people don’t even think blind people can go to college? Ridiculous. It really sucks.

Yup, college is a pain and nobody thinks about us. One of my courses is taught almost exclusively through Mcgraw-hill. Makes me wonder why I'm even paying my instructor. Let's just say, I have no qualms with exploiting bugs in the site to get a better score to make up for the crap accessibility.

I really really tried to get McGraw-Hill to understand, but they just wouldn’t budge

I doubt they'd give a damn unless you sue them. Most companies don't. It's incredibly frustrating.

Simple stuff. When you select the answer to a question, you usually can't change it anymore, but if you refresh the website, you can. Got a few wrong and a listening exercise? Hit the refresh button, and you won't for long. Just as long as you haven't submitted it.
