What are your sighted friends and partners thinking they get away with but you know about?(self.Blind)
submitted by vwlsmssng
Are your sighted friends or partners taking liberties because they think you won't notice?
I'm thinking of things like not bothering to neatly arrange the food on the plate when they're cooking or cutting corners when they're supposed to be tidying the house.
I'm feeling a bit guilty but I also want to know what else I can get away with.

I clean things a little better after my gf and don't tell her.

That's really cute actually

Thanks!

It's cute but it's evidence that your girlfriend hasn't read my bestselling self help book "using your disability to get what you want." I learned from that book that it is completely impossible for blind people to do any form of household chore, especially when they could be having a nice sit down with a glass of wine.
Yes, I know this is really bad of me.

She would hate herself if she did that. It isn't a big deal whether she cleaned or not to me, but to her it is.

That was going to be my next post ...

I'm told I don't clean things well enough because I check by sight and they check by touch.

My partner goes behind me to clean when I dont do it well- like I will sweep and go to the bathroom and I can hear him doing it again bc he doesnt wanna make me feel bad 😅

Almost the same happens to me except (1) I'm the sighted one and (2) they sure let me know they've cleaned after my cleaning.

Ahahahaha

Looking at their phone/texting, while still trying to maintain a conversation with me. It's actually very obvious when people only use about 25% of their cognitive processing power to chat with you and suddenly project their voice towards their lap. I usually leave it uncommented because, well, we're all addicts but sometimes I politely ask if they need to take care of something.

I just asked my partner, and he started naming nice things he does lol. He said that if there are dark and light tings on our dark table, he will put the dark things on top of the light things so they will stand out more :-) I asked about the cleaning, and he said sometimes I will miss getting everything off a dish when I wash it, and I'm glad he told me. I don't think the people in my life now do anything sneaky in a bad way, but years ago, a Denny's employee told me that my ex would check out other women and said (to that Denny's employee) it's fine because I couldn't see.

> I just asked my partner
Sounds familiar. Heart warming too.
> my ex would check out other women
I'm sure he was thinking "Wow, I'm so lucky, she's the best looking one here!"

Yeah, my current partner is pretty amazing! But the ex I referred to was awful. He was pretty emotionally abusive and manipulative and said he liked being with me because he thought that me being blind meant I wouldn't leave.

> he thought that me being blind meant I wouldn't leave.
You're well rid of him then.
People should appreciate when someone can leave but they don't.

Or maybe potential threesome partners if that's your thing lol

My partner tells me I have a big wiener... I’m blind, not stupid

What the fuck
Hallowss3 points2y ago
My partner steals little bits of my food or drinks, then tells me I just finished it!
He get more sneaky everytime I catch him :)
grinchnight141 points2y ago
If anyone did that to me I'd notice, that's why I as some have said "eat like I'm in jail" lol.
