Brain Prioritising “Bad Eye.” (self.Blind)
submitted by andyslams
Hey Friends, I have a pretty bad lazy eye. I’m short sighted and long sighted in both eyes, but my left eye is radically worse in vision than my right. This year, I turned 24, and have been to multiple optometrists and Specsavers and no one really knows how to help. It seems my brain has begun to prioritise seeing out of my lazy eye. It’s a new change and I’m very confused by it. Basically I can’t read or focus on fine details unless I close my left eye. This issue is severely debilitating. I feel depressed, tired and lethargic so often. I feel like I’m literally going blind - but all the doctors can’t see anything biologically wrong. What do you think I should do from here?

Have the doctors talked about whether or not wearing a patch on the one eye (temporarily) may affect this?

I don't know enough about it to understand if it would help, but maybe it's something to look into.

You should see an ophthalmologist.

You're probably past the age where patching will help much, but there may be surgical options, or you may benefit from glasses with prisms in the lens.
