What do blind people generally find sexually arousing? (self.Blind)
submitted by IKoshelev
I was thinking today, how would lack of sight affect different situations, and thought about sexual arousal. In my understanding, when it comes to sexual arousal, people generally respond strongest to a visual stimulus of seeing another human, preferably with a body shape that they specifically find attractive. I understand, of-course, that sound / smell / touch and other factors play a big role and for some people may even be more important that visuals, but, in my experience, sight will be most important on average.

So, I wanted to ask, what do blind people find most attractive? Does another sense generally become most important, or is there no trend? Do blind people feel the need to build a mental model of their partners body, maybe by touch? Does it differ between those who lost sight and those who never had it?

Yeah most of us don't stray from the average much, we just tend to prioritize voice and personality more than most.

I've also observed a somewhat higher than normal preference for diverse body shapes, particularly ones with more fat. However this isn't a for sure thing.

Consumption of written pornography over visual/audio pornography is also significantly higher in this community, particularly as compared to other males, at least from what I've observed. Though this has more to do with inaccessibility or quality than anything else for most I'd imagine.

So basically you pretty much already have it figured out, and most of what you would get by asking this question is personal preference rather than anything general.

I just think for the most part its just removing sight from the equation, and certain senses being upped as a result of the lack of sight. I'll speak for myself here.
Usually the first thing sighted people notice about a prospective partner is their figure. The first thing I notice about a girl is their voice. It doesn't work every time but I can tell things about a body shape from the voice, taller/shorter, bigger or smaller frame, etc. I prefer my height or shorter, I'm 5'5 but a bit in the other direction doesn't really bother me that much. I wouldn't be surprise if other blind people have the whole tit/ass preference thing also. Because whether you're blind or not once you get to that base and you're granted access to those regions, you can put your hands on them, that's a thrill for anyone but it may be even more for us, I know it is for me. For the record I am a total ass man but I don't disregard the rack at all. Since I don't have any sight, I pick up on arousal with the other senses. If I can smell/hear/feel arousal in someone else it transfers over to me. I also enjoy being touched in general bodily regions a lot, lightly, that can really get me going, I generally don't like just anyone putting their hands on me.

i Find getting oral pretty sexual arousing... I don’t want to speak on behalf of all blind people (and all other people) but likely a common theme

I quite like other women's voices as well as physical contact.

Voice & confidence.

A woman with a lovely voice, bonus points if she's got a British accent. Also if she's stronger than me, like physically and has thick thighs and hips.

Personally, I like women who have younger more high pitched voices. I also prefer skinny women and I'm definitely not a tit man. I also love it when a woman has smoothe hands though I don't have a hand fetish lol. Actually, I have the more common one but I digress. I like women who are confident and who like to talk because I'm a big talker. That's my 2 cents.

I've never had any vision.

So for me, it's the other four sensess.

I don't think a mental model is exactly the right descriptor, because it's the body I'm actually touching that's either going to attract or disgust me.

I think faces are very visual things. I don't care if a woman's chin is half an inch wider or narrower or whether her nose is a quarter inch longer or slanted. I mean, if someone had scars I could touch or facial hair or had been badly burned, that'd be gross, but mostly as long as we're orbiting within normality, face doesn't matter.

Body does matter though.

I think everybody has an ideal body shape they like, this isn't different because I can't see. . . So, once you put your hands on someone you'll know how attractive or ugly you find them.

Voice is also pretty important. Probably more important than for people who can see.

But. . . I suppose rephrased this question could be "How do blind people decide which food they like?" And, it's like, I can't see what my ood looks like, but if you give me chicken and tell me it's pork, once I eat the chicken I'll know. Just because I don't know earlier doesn't mean I don't have a preference.

I mean, if we blindfolded you and had you make out with five people, you could decide which one you most wanted to sleep with, couldn't you?

That's an experiment that\`s probably not gonna happen :-) I probably would decide, but I'm guessing my choice would be different than if I knew how they looked.

You reminded me, what contributed to my wondering about such things. I remember watching a science program, where experimenters would give people headphones playing sound of chewing an apple, and then those people ate some blend puree. AFAIR, some of them reported tasting an apple in puree.
