Hi, I'm just a random internet stranger, but weirdly enough I live in Northampton too. This video was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. I really love that your partner offered to be a voice for others who have been through difficult situations, I just hate that there's a need for such a voice.
I saw the length of the video at first and thought "I'll check a bit out but probably won't watch it all", but I sat there listening to all of it. He's really great at this, natural speaker and really good editing. It was eye opening when he said how long it takes to make a 10 min vid, yet alone nearly an hour like this. Really good work, kudos to him.
I'm pissed off on his behalf for what he was talking about though. That LSA teacher better not still be teaching, they sound horrible and literally are doing the opposite of their specialised job. And that bouncer... words can't say how angry that makes me. I'm really sorry he had to suffer through that, especially with lasting nerve damage.
So me and my girlfriend have moved around the UK a bit in the past few years for contracting work, and Northampton is by far our least favourite place to live yet. We're actually planning to move up to Scotland now (to get away from the English government 😂)
But that bus driver had literally no leg to stand on. The .gov website says such disabled passes can be used *anywhere* in England, and there's nothing on the Northampton council's website saying there's any law to overwrite the companion clause. Sounds like that bus driver was making up his own law and made passengers feel like shit for it, so in others words blatant discrimination.
$1 which you can use if you hear nothing back from the bus company you complained to. I wouldn't let that go.
Sorry for the long post, please just let your partner know his video is great and I hope it gets a lot more attention.
All the best to both of you.
