When will open source care about accessibility? (blindjournalist.wordpress.com)

What I like about open source software is that when I find an accessibility issue, I can work on it and make a pull request. I couldn't possibly do that with closed source, strictly for-profit software.

That being said, I don't have the skill set to fix every app I use (or would like to use).

I just try to get into the open source spirit and be a part of the community to make software easier to use for myself and for others.

Of course I actually like doing this kind of thing and have a chance to do it. I wouldn't tell anybody else it's their responsibility to fix anything. I just think this shouldn't be a fight between the disabled community and the open source community - users are a vital part of the open source community and can contribute. One can always open issues on GitHub or wherever a project is managed - that doesn't always lead anywhere, but it's a start.
