I lived in the cali desert for a year with only my guide dog. Grew food, walked 4 miles to store once a week. Where there's a will, there's a way.

Not speaking from personal experience, but people have been doing it forever. It might take longer for him to adapt, but anything is possible!

He's got more than just crops and food to worry about mate, how's he gonna find his way back home when he wanders off with no sidewalks or other visible to touch landmarks? I mean, I'm sure its possible, wouldn't recommend it though....

While I don't have much information to answer your question, your brother needs to think about how he will get around. Many blind people prefer cities because public transportation is more readily available.
