Retina Specialist Exam Cost (self.Blind)
submitted by Poolz_Of_Lymph
My eye doctor found macular drusen last year and this year, my vision acuity got worse, so she referred me to a retina specialist. I'm trying to get an approximate cost on how much the exam would cost so I can figure out my co-pays.

I feel like it's going to vary based on location. You could always call their office and ask.

But for reference, mine charges $200 for an office visit without insurance. I'm not sure what they charge with insurance. They didn't take my old insurance so I paid out of pocket the past few years and I haven't been back yet since switching to a new provider.

Thank you! The problem I ran into with calling the office is that it's such a big, hierarchical organization, that they kept referring me to a priceline voicemail and I'm afraid I'll never hear back from them as they say calls are taking longer than normal due to COVID.

Co-pays for specialists should be set. For example, my Co pay for any specialist is $40. Can you call your insurance company and ask?

It's set to 20% of the total bill and that's it.
