Being blind or Visually impaired questions (self.Blind)
submitted by libaryisnice
There’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while and I thought I’d ask here.

I’m doing a school project on accessibility and I’ve decided to look into the blind/ visually impaired community and food ordering apps.

Most apps like Postmates, Uber eats, etc, function on reading restaurant names and looking at menus. How, if at all, does someone who suffers from vision problems navigate those apps? I’m working on an idea that may help some people with this apps, in terms of knowing what you can order and where you can order from. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Read this link about VoiceOver. I can't speak for all food delivery apps but I know uber eats and favor both work well with voice over so a VI person is able to read thier menu options and order independently.

Using voiceover on my iPhone and iPad, I've had pretty good luck with Uber Eats, Grub Hub, and Door dash. Some of them do have some accessibility issues, like certain choices not being visible to voiceover, but I can usually place an order without a problem.
