Not struggling enough? should i ask for help..? (self.Blind)
submitted by [deleted]
I've been recently considering getting help or reaching out to my eye doctor however i dont really know him and im afraid for them to be upset with me. Doesn't make any sense but my brain makes the rules, not me.

As far far as i know im not legally blind. I just got new glasses in June and im still struggling. Without them i cant see the big E but with them i can read the 3rd row if i try to focus hard on it. My prescription is -2.25. Within in the past year it seems overall my vision is declining. Im running into stuff, tripping over stuff, i cannot see the sidewalk anymore at night, i cant tell the difference between clothes if all the lights aren't on, and if its to bright outside i cannot see//its painful
like, cloudy days is painful too. I always have static and negative images.

Im missing some stuff but i guess it doesnt matter much because you all arent my doctor. I guess im kind of here to vent and see if its something worth telling my eye doctor about. I dont want him to think im crazy. Ive seen him twice and never said anything about it before and i dont want him to think im lying. I just wanna be able to be more confident and do the things i like.

I would definitely go back again or possibly try somewhere else. You might have to try a few different places unfortunately. It took 25 years and 5 different opticians before anyone picked up the fact that I'm missing half my field of vision (I can trace it back to a head injury as a child). It's easy to dismiss things as not being that bad but don't let things drag on.

I agree, I'd make an appointment and make a list of your concerns. If you don't think your current doctor will be receptive, try a different one. I know the feeling of things not being "bad enough" but if it's affecting your day to day life, that's worth investigating.

Hi, go to a new doctor and inform him what your challenges are. Make a list of them before you go, so that you may provide it.
