Any real time OCR software on windows? (self.Blind)
submitted by peggy2033
What I mean by real time OCR programs is on android there’s an option called select to speak where if you drag your finger it’ll read stuff in real time out loud to you if it’s across an image or real text within the operating system. Is there any programs like this on windows also sorry if this isn’t the correct area to ask questions like this.

I have this by combining Capture2Text and TextAloud. Set Capture2Text to send OCR to the clipboard and TextAloud to read anything added to the clipboard. Voila.

Actually there are many OCR programs you can use but luckily right now the $1 that I had been using right now is having $1 which is very affordable and reasonable. The software is very efficient and useful for all users to $1 or $1 or other documents too.

I only know of one for mac, although NVDA has pretty quick OCR capabilities, and jaws probably now so given the stuff in windows 10. Though its been years since I've touched a windows computer. I may run a vm to test some things though, I'm curious about this now too.

JAWS has had OCR capabilities since 2011.

And machine-generated image descriptions since March 2019.

Not to my knowledge, probably because something like this would use quite a lot of power that might be better allocated elsewhere if it was always on.

The screen reader NVDA has a built in image recognition that can recognise a text within an image when you press the NVDA key + 'r'. As to text, it's simply the job of the screen reader to read it out. Are you familiar with screen readers?
