Recommendation for a blind person: need advice about robotic vacuums? (self.Blind)
submitted by Wooden_Suit5580
I am totally blind and I wanted to know if there are any other people who are blind or low vision that have a robotic vacuum? What is your experience like with one? Do you enjoy it? Is it worth it?
Thank you

I have "dumb" cheap robotic vacuum was on Amazon from 150 to 60€, it has water tank too and can clean carpets (not those very fluffy ones) all kind of floors, doesn't fall off stairs, it has 7 cleaning modes and goes back to station if needs recharge. It doesn't have app or Alexa/any other kind of smart home integration it has remote control which is easy to use. It has loud audio feedback tones for different errors and problems and his remote emits them too if its in other room. It was damn cheap and its easy to clean and use, we programmed it so it automatically cleans the house in particular days/hours - it doesn't differentiate between rooms itself trough. But we still enjoy this little helper :) it was actually Christmas gift to my parents but I'm allowed to use it too :)

Important for every kind of robotic vacuum cleaner - for safety reasons to not damage the unit it has to be checked out first for hazardous items - loose cables, any items that vacuum can "eat" and they may damage internals small or big loose sharp objects Sand, food small pieces, dirt etc is safe but they in no way as much effective as big loud vacuums. Not worth high price even high end models they don't give you the effectiveness and long-livednes of traditional cord vacuuming.

I really damn need this. Vacuuming is like the hardest task for me, but I sure as hell can’ot afford the big brand stuff but I have always been told that the cheaper ones don’t do shit and are just a nuisance. Do you happen to know what brand yours is/have a link to it?

I second all of this. The only thing I'd add is that it won't completely replace a proper vacuum cleaner. It you leave all your doors wide open so it can go everywhere in the house it won't be able to clean behind them so dust tends to collect there. Also, most robot vacuums are dumb and bounce around rather than cleaning methodically so you may find that the room where the base is located is where it will do the majority of the cleaning. Having said that, it's a great help and I'd recommend getting one.

We have a Roomba and I like it, but some of the convenience is reduced because you still have to clear the floor of everything. You'd just want to familiarize yourself well with the maintenance because it has cameras and bits that need to be cleaned and kept up that normal vacuums don't have.
