Mainstream games that are useable with voiceover on iOS?(self.Blind)
submitted by guitarandbooks
I'm not aware of any mainstream games/Apple Arcade games that are accessible with Voiceover. It'd be great if at least some of them were. If there are some that are accessible, please correct me on this! (Yes, I am aware of certain games that were developed specifically for blind players but the only two that I really got into were PapaSangre 1 and 2 which are no longer available sadly.)
Before I lost my sight, I loved my NES and Sega Genesis etc. Since that time, there seem to be tons of amazing games out there and I get down sometimes because I know I'm missing out.
Many blind people would love to play mainstream games;whether that be on a console, iOS device, mac, or Windows computer but perhaps blind people aren't a big enough demographic to be included when taking into account the extra time and cost required to implement game accessibility...
What say you other blind Reddit users?

Bit Life is the most well known mainstream title that's playable I believe, though it isn't always super easy. Other more mainstream stuff includes A Dark Room, The choice of games titles, Online Soccer Manager, Zombies! Run, Street Fighter IV CE, The Life Simulator, Landlord Tycoon, Song Quiz, trivia crack kingdoms, the Lifeline gamebook series, and undoubtedly more I missed.

I relate to what you’re saying. I personally don’t know of any main stream games that work with voiceover on iOS either. I did really enjoy my time with A Dark Room and King of Dragon Pass, though. Do you have a PlayStation 4? There are some main stream games that are accessible to varying degrees on there. Most notably including The Last of Us Part II which is completely blind accessible. If you head over to Applevis you can find a comprehensive listing of iOS games that are completely or partially accessible with voiceover. Audiogames.net and its forums are a great resource for finding accessible mainstream and otherwise accessible games. Accessibility in gaming as a whole is gaining much traction these days, though. Stay hopeful.

I know how you feel. Before my vision got really bad I love playing games like Grandtheft auto, hitman and red dead redemption, etc. I have not played these games as of yet, but you could download Untold, knight commander and I believe blind legend. You can find them all in the App Store and our voiceover accessible so I am told that is

You can still play Trand Theft Auto. It just !as to be played differently. Instead of doing the missions, you are playing what is basically an Asshole simulator. Basically, we play the free roam mode and we kill stuff and have fun. There is a mod that a guy nameed Liam Ervin made called Grand Theft accessibility. It's for a windows machine and its cool! You can also play Mortal Kombat through either and xbox or PC and it works the same way. It's the same with Madden because since 2018, EA added vibration cues for the game that work very well for blind people and Turn10 Studios the creator of the Forza series, added driving assists for Forza 7. You can still play video games.

There are a few card, board and dice games that are accessible, though it doesn't seem like those are the games you're interested in.

What are those? I'd be interested!

The most popular one is called Dice World! The developers made a couple of other similar games. The community at www.applevis.com would probably be better for getting iOS app recommendations.
