Question about presenting to a class (self.Blind)
submitted by Gumby3212345
Hey guys,

My brother and I are both visually impaired math majors in university. I am a sophomore and he is a senior, and next year will be his first year in grad school. In addition to taking graduate classes, he’ll also be teaching one or two classes. We were wondering if you guys had any ideas for a visually impaired person to effectively present math to a class. Writing on a whiteboard or chalkboard wouldn’t work very well because we wouldn’t be able to write any higher than eye level so that we could see what we were writing, and we would have to write too large for it to be realistic. However, CCTV’s work very well for us and we were wondering if you guys knew of any particular device that would allow someone to write under a CCTV while having an unmagnified versión displayed on a projector.

Thanks in advance!

One computer, two screens. One screen has magnification installed, the other doesn't; the second is hooked up to a projector.

If you're in the US, your state should have a Department of Rehabilitation. I used that department in a few states to find organizations and retailers that cater to the blind community, and they are going to have a good pulse on technology solutions that are out there.
