Blind gamers of reddit, help? (self.Blind)
submitted by thebluedanube15
Hi, my boyfriend is blind and he uses the one guide app on his Xbox to play his Nintendo Switch. He loves this method, most of the characters are recognized nicely and its an affordable way of gaming for him. Recently, when he tries the one guide. It doesn’t want to stream to his computer. He tried everything but, it is not working. What could he do? He doesn’t have reddit because its not accessible on his phone and he forgot his account credentials. Thank you in advance!

I just did a quick google search and it seams you can't do that anymore, if you search one guide not streaming to pc you'll see what I mean.

Thank you! We didn’t think about googling that haha

No problem.

He could also sign up for audiogames.net and ask there maybe?
This device seems pretty rare in the community though so no promises.

Yeah I'd advise against audiogames.net in most cases however this is actually a gaming question which is one that belongs there so might be worth a shot.
Has anything changed with his computer though? Any new updates you know of? Same with the switch and x-box.

Thank you! No not that we know of but he suspects an update might’ve happened. We actually ended up getting a capture card in the end so his screen reader (NVDA) can read dialogues and instructions in games now. He likes it better than OneGuide now haha. Sorry for the late comment by the way!

I can't answer your Xbox question, but here is a link to a fully accessible iOS Reddit client: https://testflight.apple.com/join/4MJtN4FB

Edit: you do have to sign up outside of the app though so I'd recommend he uses old.reddit.com and either tries forgot my password, if that's a thing, or making a new acount.

I personally write all my passwords down on a document that's on my external hard drive and dropbox, sure, some people say it's not safe to do that but i've had this document for a long time now and nothing's gone wrong.

There's also password managers but I'ven not used them so can't tell you hhow accessible they are.
if it's dystopia, it's amazing and i'd recommend your boyfriend signs up and gives a bit more detail as to what his problem is. i'm not much of a gamer so can't help but hopefully others can.

There are several accessible password managers.

Oh? Cool. I personally won't be using them but perhaps you could name them for others?
