Have you ever thought this? (self.Showerthoughts)

Not American, so I’ve never witnessed one of your infamous medicine ads, but whenever I watch an ad that is only music with the "in-brackets" stuff said very fast at the end, it just confuses me so much, because I don’t know what I’m being advertised, but I know I’ll probably die or get bankrupted if I do decide to purchase it. Kind of funny in a way. I don’t understand how sighted people can think "mmm yeah this sounds like something I should purchase" at these kind of ads just because the visuals are pretty or something. Kinda funny yeah.

Although I never pay enough attention to commercials, when it gets to the legal part and they start talking really fast, I do try to see if I can understand it.

I’m used to setting up my VoiceOver to be super fast so it sounds just understandable to me haha

I do the same with NVDA and JAWS.

You americans are crazy. I have not thought this, though I also don't live there so yeah. Theres that. Maybe if I did though, things would be different.

The ads were terrifying before I went blind. I still got a chuckle out of this post though.

I think ads for medicine are one of the quintessential examples of the insanity of American society. I'm not a doctor. I don't understand why some scummy pharma conglomerate whose executives should probably be arrested is advertising mystery chemicals to me, and it doesn't help that they're legally required to list known side effects. I haven't seen one in years, but they were always several times longer than normal ads. Thank goodness I don't watch TV anymore. I'll leave the prescription medicines to my fully-qualified medical professional. I'm happy simply buying ibuprofen and occasionally THC over the counter.

I think it now and thought it before I was blind. The visuals don't change it much; it's usually footage of a couple or a family walking in the park or laughing while eating fair food
