What service do health insurances pay for to assists with the transition into permanent blindness? (self.Blind)
submitted by Alcohooligan
I am a case manager for a person who has been losing their sight for about a year but recently was told that their vision loss is permanent and will probably end in total blindness. Does health insurance assist with training on how to use a cane? Learning braille?

Insurance will smile, pat you on the back, and wish you luck on your journey of vision loss. They might throw a fee just for the lolz

Usually theres a state commission for the blind.

Long/short term disability.

Though, if you already have a diagnosis it's unlikely that they will cover you.

For training with a cane checkout orientation and mobility specialists
