I went bowling for the first time since I became visually impaired. (self.Blind)

Back in 2015, I became visually impaired from a neurological disorder. Since then, I felt like I couldn’t do normal things sighted people could do.

Last month I started dating a fellow blind person, who has been blind since he was a child. In the month that we have been dating and becoming a couple, we socialized with other blind people here in the city he knows.

Last night we went bowling with an organization that employs blind people. I haven’t done this in almost seven years. Granted, I didn’t hit any pins after I threw the ball (i wasn’t expecting to), but it felt so good to do something I loved to do when I could see. I scored a 70 and a 92 in the two games we played. I kind of teared up a bit when I was bowling because if it wasn’t for the support from my boyfriend to join and do something like this, I’d be at home moping around.

That's such a nice positive story! Exactly what i needed right now. In a view minutes i will be tested for Retinitis Pigmentosa, this helped me calm down. Thanks for sharing this and sorry for my English.

No worries! I hope things go well for you. I was diagnosed with idiopathic intracranial hypertension in 2015 and it changed my life. I had a hard time adjusting to being visually impaired, however being in a relationship with someone who is also blind is also refreshing. It’s helped me with my confidence a lot.

Thanks, People here are really nice! Now i have to wait 6 Months or more for the results, it's a little bit nerve wrecking. But i try to be positive.

You got this. It stinks having a neurological disorder that caused my blindness. But, I started to deal with it better.

My friends get playfully upset when I go bowling with them, because I tend to do considerably better than them even though I can barely make out the pins. ( Mostly just white splotches at the end of the lanes to me )

Good fun and teasing all around for everyone.

Awesome that you found a group that encourages gaming! So need that in more communities.

I was able to see the pins okay- I just got a couple of gutter balls before I finally got the bumpers up and did so much better. It was fun.

I used to belong to a blind bowling league. They exist. Maybe in your area.
I also bowled on a team in a league that everyone was sighted. Great experiences and friendships.

Good for you, blindness is not the end of the world even though most of us probably felt that way at one time or another
