Website accessibility (self.Blind)
submitted by kt2187
Hello. My name is Katie and I'm a web developer interested in making accessible websites. I am taking a user experience class and have decided to design a complaint management system to record, resolve, and respond to user complaints and requests about web accessibility issues. There are services to help developers build accessible websites but there aren't many services to support the user when things don't go as planned. I'm having a hard time finding people to participate in my user research and was wondering if anyone would be willing to participate in a short survey or interview about your experiences accessing websites and web applications. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Accessibility is a big topic, but I'm not aware of a decent system to log issues as a community. that'd be prety interesting.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm new to the world of accessibility and have a lot to learn. I've looked into the process of logging accessibility complaints with companies like Target and it seems time-consuming and difficult to navigate. I created a survey to learn more about the problem and would appreciate your input about the survey questions and/or your experiences. Thanks so much!

That's by design. I've worked in web accessibility for about 5 years and companies don't give a rats ass about fixing these problems and need to have a lawsuit to straighten up and fly right. Thank god the ADA is such a strong piece of legislation as otherwise no one would be handling it. With the exception of colleges and the government I did not have a single client in 3 years of web work that cared about accessibility without being in the midst of a lawsuit.

This isn't a technical problem, this is a "humans are fucking assholes" problem.
