JAWS and Microsoft Teams: Screen Sharing(self.Blind)
submitted by QuietOk2468
Hello, I am a vocational rehab specialist doing job training with someone who uses JAWS with Microsoft Teams with a new remote job she just started. Currently, a supervisor needs to share their screen in order to demonstrate a software platform she will need for the job. Does anyone know of a way that JAWS can be used to read the screen of someone who is sharing, or related work-arounds? Any tips or advice is much appreciated!

From my experience Teams is a step backwards for Microsoft's accessibility. Not screen reader friendly. Very disappointing. Zoom on the other hand gets it

Zoom doesn't do accessible screen shares though? I see no real way for it to work, although I'm sure I've seen accessible presentations on blackboard or similar academic stuff.

There’s no way to do it within Teams, as what’s shown is just a video image. The best solution would be using the Tandem feature in JAWS

I hadn't heard of the Tandem feature before - will absolutely look into this!

There is some information here, $1 but the best resource I've found is Kelly Ford's webinar, $1

Thank you so much for this info! We ended up doing a similar work around to share the screen of the PC with JAWS enabled, and then granting remote-control to the other user for the sake of demonstrating the online platform and still have JAWS read each feature.
