You don't see ads for blind stuff because we're a tiny minority. Trust me, do yourself a favor and install adblockers. Ublock origin is pretty good and will improve your quality of life massively.

I get a lot of ads about cars. It restores my faith that the Internet does not know everything about me.

'I was a hardcore gamer before suddenly losing all of my vision 6 years ago, so I understand and empathize with that part of your rant. It's very hard to let things go, but it comes with time and acceptance. It never fully goes away, and I'm always curious about new games coming out, but know full well that certain games just will not work for the blind or with screen readers, but bigger games are starting to make an appearance with accessibility options built in like Last of Us 2. The bigger the push, the more equality we'll start to get amidst gaming systems.
As for ads, yes, ads suck. Still, don't expect ads to know or understand that we are using assistive tech. We purposely don't want that to be tracked since then it starts to make developers think that they should be creating separate experiences for us, segregating us rather than creating equitable experiences. When I encounter an ad, I just ignore it until I can skip it. If there is an option to dislike it, I will. Other than that, it's just ad creators trying to sell to the largest demographic they can get to without considering the disabled. They just lose our money when we can't interact with the ad, use their products, etc., and that's their own fault. someo just take solace in the fact that you are not being wooed by ads and therefore you are being disinclined to spend your money on whatever the ads are shilling.

I was 18 when I lost my vision and I was also a huge gamer, so I feel you.
I mostly play tabletop games online to scratch that itch. I was a huge scifi person so I have two Starfinder games, Life is Strange is kind of like Monster of the Week, and DnD just hits the kind of medieval MMO kind of feel.

I had to LOL about your aspen eye care jokes, because here we have aspen dental, and now I'm not sure which one is worse.
I totally feel your pain. I'm glad you ranted, and were able to get it off of your chest. Old man or not, I feel you are still young at heart. Don't ever let that go. Your vision may wane, but never let your sense of humor do the same. I appreciate your words, and thank you for sharing.
Myself, I can still see, some.... so the ads don't bother me as much. Until I am flooded with ads for the political party I absolutely abhor and despise. I guess I better not say which side I'm on, but I too will be glad when the votes are all counted. Either way, I cannot help but feel, there will be repercussions, in the form of riots or some other such distasteful events. I can't help but wonder, what if EVERYONE was blind, or very much visually impaired, i.e., legally blind, like myself? How would the protestors protest THEN?! If they couldn't see? If everyone was in this boat we are in? What would happen? They may go outside and throw rocks, only to strike each other, by mistake. I can hear a lot of glass shattering, haha.

I know other will come along and have more views on your posting. Nothing is more frustrating than to rant, and type it all out, only to get no replies, or only a few. I know I didn't contribute much here, but I AM here, and I wish you and the rest of my visually challenged friends a good day, no matter how this day turns out.

The only thing ads are useful for is getting more points. I will watch them if they give me points in games, but the ads on youtube, get out. Thank god android devices has a universal way of closing them unlike IOS and you just have to pray the advertiser implemented a proper close button. Ug!

It's the same on Cable TV as online. I am totally blind since birth and was joking around with my mother and we were saying we should have a game of if I can guess what the ad is supposed to be for when it's not obvious! But yes I think that ads should do better at targetting, the best service with ads is this games platform for the blind called RS Games.

I feel your pain. It's short for Janine. I get the penis enlargement spam.
