Leisure Activities with visually impaired sister (19y)(self.Blind)
submitted by AlterbridgeS_94
Hello everyone and sorry for my bad English. I'm writing in this group because I really struggle to find interesting activities to do with my sister during lockdown here in Italy. She is visually impaired, she can see not so much and just from one eye due to a brain tumor at 16y.
I would like to buy games or find also app that we can play together (she spend the whole day on her iPhone just to go away with her mind..). I would like to help her and stay more with her when I'm home.
Please share with me your games, activities and all the suggestion that can be interesting.
Thank you and keep up this interesting r/

It might be fun to
- listen to music together (maybe share some songs/artists you like that she hasn't heard and she can share some that you haven't heard)
- make modeling clay/regular clay sculptures and have each other guess what the other made
- listen to a comedy sketch/podcast that you both find interesting or trade off who chooses the podcast
- share a funny memory from childhood
- each picks an object and has the other ask 20 yes or no questions to determine what you each picked
- enjoy a meal together and talk about personal stuff
- create something together: artwork, a story or two, something meaningful to the both of you
- exercise together: maybe a walk, run, body-weight exercises
- read her a story and talk about it after
These are just some ideas for you both!

I'm 21 and I lost alot of my vision a few years ago and I've found that things that I can use my hands for have been a good way to keep my mind busy. Such as modeling clay and painting, even tho I cant see most of the picture or tell what colors I'm using it's still relaxing. Baking has also been a really fun thing to do. Making cookies and rolling out the dough and making the shapes and having my roommate help me put it in the over and measure the ingredients :) it's always a blast

She may be playing Dice World. This was not created for blind people in mind but it is very accessible.

Since she plays on her phone together look at cool games to play together. (Pokémon Go, board kings, Yahtzee and more.) otherwise, music, listen to a movie, basically do things that interest both of you.

My husband is blind and we have put together lego kits. I read the instructions out loud, he puts the pieces together.

Should try with clay and if she'd enjoy, I'll try with other games. Many thanks!

What kind of things does she enjoy? That would help a bit.

Well, she likes music, playing piano sometimes, and scrolling videos on the phone 😅

Watch YouTube together, I find it fun to watch alone, but when you're with other people, it's ten times more fun

What about braille card games and board games, like dominos and scrabble. And others. Chess, checkers, chinese checkers, trouble, monopoly, there’s accessible versions to all of these and more.
What about going on runs and walk together,
Going out to a restaurant or bar. When my sister comes home I typically choose a place and treat her out. Being out shoping or walking around town.
Tandem bike riding.
Cooking together.
Worship God together if you believe brother and sister bible study.
Self development look in to yourself red some self development book together. This is more fun done with partners anyway, get to know yourself and get to know each other on a deeper level then before. Really understand each other.
Have a beach day go on a hike. Go camping. Go have a beach day or fishing.

There are the apps quiz duell and trifia crack which are accessible. There is also the app moviereader which provides audio description in italian. I hope it helps.
