If given the chance, would I want to see again? (youtube.com)

I posted ages ago about the weird thing where it's fashionable to say you don't want it back, and how crazy that is. For me it's not really about what I can do, I can make most stuff happen, it's about the sheer amount of effort I have to put in. I will never stop doing it because that's unacceptable, you cannot lay back and let life win, but I will always resent the hell out of how exhausted I get. The grind of it is just killer. It's an amazingly stupid question and I think Ross is being pretty laid back in the way he says what he's saying here.

But here's the big issue for me. Even if someone were born blind they must be aware of the things you can do with sight, how much time and effort it saves. So anyone who's saying it's a part of their identity has basically let it win. I bust my ass to avoid it being any significant part of my identity and I will do that until I can't anymore.

All I can say is you hit the nail on the head. I have nothing else to add to this comment because it perfectly sums up how I feel.

I will NEVER ever understand why any blind person who isn't blind since birth or very early childhood would say "no" to this. Like, how is this even a question. OF COURSE I want my eyesight back. I want it back yesterday for God's sake. I understand that people who've been born this way may feel differently because they never got to enjoy the beauty of seeing but someone who went blind in puberty or adulthood like myself, this should really be a no-brainer.

I never quite understand how people who've never had it say they don't want it. They must be intellectually aware of what it can do.

I would. I know what I'm missing.

I have 9° left. I’d do absolutely anything to have all my vision back again.

No, because then I would have to relearn every single thing I've learned. I'd also have to readapt. No thank you, I'm better blind.

If you don't want it, close your eyes. It's not mandatory!
