Need your feedbacks on accessible payment service (self.Blind)
submitted by Necessary_One_6753
Hi everyone,

I'm on project to create accessible payment service for or people who has visual impairment. And I would like to hear about some general thoughts on current payment service.

1. What kind of payment service blind people use while purchasing?
2. Do they satisfy with current service? Why?
3. Is QR code accessible for them?

Feedback are highly appreciated and will help me very much to improve my project. Thank you!

I use paypal or my debit card online, which usually works just fine.
Sometimes the entry fields are badly done though, most commonly the country/state picker or the expiration date entry field. I also find that some sites do not make choosing your payment method very intuitive.

1. I use Apple Pay almost everywhere since the contactless terminals required to use it are available practically everywhere here in Portugal;
2. I'm mostly satisfied but wish Apple Pay would tell me how much I'm going to spend before asking me to authenticate, as I can only tell how much I've spent after the transaction and only because my bank sends me a push notification;
3. As a totally blind individual I believe I'd have trouble using QR codes.

When Apple Pay is unavailable I can always pay with cash like a neanderthal by using a local service called MB Way which allows me to enter the amount of money I need into my bank's mobile app, and that in turn gives me a code that I can use to withdraw from any ATM.

1. I personally use tap. I find when I have to insert my debit card and put in the pin the screen can be hard to read sometimes.
2. Generally tap works for me. There have been times where a machine won't have tap so I have to insert. It would definitely help if every machine had tap.
3. I find QR codes easy to use. But somebody who is completely blind may have trouble lining up the camera.
Hopefully any of that can be helpful.

3) QR codes can be accessible, but when someone is totally blind, it can be tricky to line up the phone camera in the right spot. Especially when the QR code is in an unexpected area.

1) Many of my clients use a credit card, and tap on the machine (or put the card into the slot). Some of my younger clients use Apple Pay on their phones.

1. Online paypal or apple stuff or just enter credit card info. In stores I hand my card to someone and run it as credit.

2. Online is fine. Offline? In stores would be really cool to have talking point of sale machine.

3. I suppose I know many people use it I’ve only encountered it once and had someone scan it for me. I wasn’t sure where the qr code was after it scanned it was pretty good.
