How To Best Make Image Descriptions (self.Blind)
submitted by demonsitsmeyaboy
So I’ve started to post some of my art on tumblr, and I see people making image descriptions for people with screen readers, but they usually are made on a later reblog, and I want to add them directly onto my post for optimal accessibility. The problem is, I’m absolutely shit at figuring out what to write unless I have some sort of mini template. If anyone would be willing to tell me what the criteria for the best image descriptions for them are, that would be wonderful. Thank you!

• Start with the questions "who", "what", "when", "where", "how" and in some circumstances "why".

• What can be omitted because it's not important but would not affect the audience's understanding of the answers for the above questions?

• Your description should be written in enough detail that you could describe your artwork using it when speaking to a friend on the phone.
