Best software for my grandma (self.Blind)
submitted by radlertje
Hello! My grandma can only see black and white and everything is brighter for her as usual (which she has lenses for, but screens are still pretty bright for her).
I’m wondering whether anyone has recommendations for a phone. My uncle already bought her an iPad and an iPhone, but everything is made super big which makes it all very unclear and thus confusing for her.
For example in Whatsapp, she keeps on clicking the camera button instead of opening a chat with someone.
On the iPad, she can check Facebook and her e-mail (sort of) but she keeps on reposting random posts on Facebook which she has no idea about.
So, does anyone know of a convenient phone or maybe a program on the phone for her?

Thanks a lot!

For photophobia (discomfort with bright lights) look for a device with an OLED screen and use dark mode. All the new iPhones have it and so do the 11 Pro and Pro Max - just not the 11 or the new SE. It's a reasonably common feature on comparatively cheaper Android phones.

iOS also has a magnification feature, under accessibility settings. That might be handy for her.

There's always the risk that posting random stuff is more of a normal grandma problem. Is she otherwise tech savvy?
