There’s a possibility I’m losing my vision and I just need support I guess. (self.Blind)

Legally blind due to an autoimmune disease. Happy to chat about specifics over DM.

Which sort of phone are you using? If you have an iPhone you can learn VoiceOver pretty quickly and easily (it's much less complicated than a full screen reader on a computer). While you're waiting, you should also still be able to access Bookshare--they don't require a formal diagnosis that I'm aware of, just someone to sign off that you do in fact have a visual impairment. This opens the door to tons of accessible books where you can enlarge the font as much as you need/listen to audibly/whatever you want.

I have an iPhone but I’m kinda hesitant to use VoiceOver quite yet.

I’ll definitely save the name Bookshare for when I see the ophthalmologist. It’ll be a few weeks though. Right now I’ve just been watching tv and when my eyes get too bothersome I turn on the audio descriptions. They are actually pretty cool.

We all need support. Listen to some music, go for a walk/run, help another. Pm if you wanna chat

Thank you. Distraction is probably what I need

Hey - I browsed through some of your post history and noticed your experience of fatigue and possible need of a wheelchair. Sorry about my “go for a walk” comment, I didn’t mean anything hurtful by it. Hope you find some relief from your autoimmune disorder symptoms and discover something to distract you in the meantime. Audiobooks might be helpful (I have a collection I’m happy to send you some from if you have any specific titles in mind). I don’t know if this is also something you could try, but quickly switching between cold and hot taps in the shower helps me snap out of a mental funk.

No offense taken. I don’t always feel like telling every person I come across about my mobility issues. I could try audiobooks I guess. Can you send me some titles you have? I haven’t read much in a while but I always like something with suspense!

If you don’t mind a bit of a sci-fi element with your suspense, ‘Alexander X’ by Savio is fairly action-y and also pretty funny. Not sure if your local library would have the audio version, but if you don’t mind paying for it, Wil Wheaton narrates, his voices will make you laugh.

I have a lot of the classics in spirituality/philosophy. I haven’t read much in the suspense genre recently but some of these look interesting: Run Away by Harlan Coben; Don’t Let Go by Harlan Coben; and The Deep Dark Descending by Allen Eskens. Just a couple near the top of a list of suggestions I came across...lmk if anything scratches an itch...
