Tips for using OBS for the blind (self.Blind)
submitted by BlindOG83
Hey all. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for using OBS being totally blind. I'd like to set it up and stream gameplay from my PC to twitch. I know its possible, just need a bit of instruction on how to do it. Thanks all in advance for the help.

It’s OK, I know that I’ve heard of completely blind people using this software, but the only video that I found on YouTube is an old one so I was wondering if there was an updated version. Thanks anyway for checking this out.

I’m blind and I’ve used OBS but I’m a Mac user. Not sure if that helps

Interesting, what would you like to stream? I plan on messing around with that so I don’t mind sharing what I learned tomorrow.

Hi I am wanting to stream gameplay footage to my YouTube channel. I’ve gotten as far as entering my stream key and all that but setting up sources doesn’t seem to be very accessible and that’s where I am a bit stuck.

Yeah this is kind of a pain, sorry I wasn’t much of a help

Got it, yeah from my understanding OBS is pretty bad when it comes to operating it with a screen reader. What kind of things do you plan on streaming, I’ll mess around with it later on today so I’ll keep you updated since I’m interested as well.

I started messing around with it in a little bit more detail and found out that NVDA is better to use when you’re using OBS. Some of the buttons like stream and record are not labeled and so it was a bit weird to keep those working, using jaws sometimes the stream and record buttons read but not all the time which was kind of weird too. But I did successfully do a stream test of gears five to my YouTube channel today and I will definitely pleat be messing around with you more in the future

I’m happy to hear that, decided to start doing some thing of my own so that’s great to know.
