Banking challenges (self.Blind)
submitted by searching4news
Hello! I'm working on a case study on how banks should be more inclusive. I'd like to understand some of the challenges that you face with your banking, either online or in person. What would you want to see an improvement in? Thank you!

Ensure that the online banking presence and all third-party features such as loan applications, etc., follow WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. Ensure that the mobile apps for the bank follow the accessibility and inclusive design best practices given by Apple and Google for their respective operating systems. That will limit the legal risk the bank exposes itself to when providing online and app banking.

And ensure that people test them.

And not just any people, but actual disabled users who have daily experience with their assistive technology, and at least have an accessibility specialist on hand when in the design phase of development.

This particular issue, I don't think there is an easy solution for. Where I am, a lot of ATM machines have the headphone jacks where you can plug in headphones to hear the audio.

However, a high percentage of my clients use iPhones, which don't use the standard 3.5mm jacks. And I don't think the machines can get lightning ports installed. And they don't support bluetooth headphones.
