Using Microsoft narrator or NVDA on a touchscreen tablet, your thoughts (self.Blind)
submitted by fantasy53
I'm thinking about replacing my iPad Air with Microsoft surface tablet, I've heard good things about narrator becoming more accessible and the NVDA is usable on the touchscreen.

Being completely blind, I'm relying on voice-over for everything, so if anyone has used Microsoft narrator or NVDA with the touchscreen, I'd be grateful to hear your thoughts.

Why replace the ipad? I think people are les a fan of the touch stuff on windows and mostly use the keyboard. I tried asking around once and people said that the gestures part were more extra and that more people just used the keyboard as that was what was more standard and you can do the same thing anyway.

the surface is great. Honestly, just pay the extra 50 dollars or so ′was just on sale, may not be anymore, but you can prob find them on amazon′ for the attached keyboard cover. Its just like using a regular laptop at that point and no reason to use the touch gestures exclusively.

Keep the iPad. Get a device with a keyboard if you really want to use windows. I know Microsoft narrator has touch gestures, but I can’t imagine all that many people use them. I’m not sure about NVDA at all. Touchscreen laptops are a thing, so you can get something with the touchscreen is an additional input on top of the keyboard.
