so, there is my girlfriend, having an eye-operation soon which leads to a temporal visual impairement. She will not be able to see for about 3 days, but in that day, I will help her out.

Here are my questions:
\- smartphone usage: which apps, settings do you recommend?
\- life hacks: what can you do to make life easier at home?
\- anything else I did not thought of?
\- what are the most surprising things that are harder than expected?
\- what advice do you have for the assistant/me?

So you can turn on things like VoiceOver on your phone and computer. That being said, it takes a while to learn how to use so I don't know if that is really worth it for her. What I would suggest is turning on Audio Descriptions on your streaming platforms, deciding on a few shows to binge or movies to watch using these services.

Just make sure all paths are clear and you have the important stuff out and easy to reach. In the shower, I would suggest ordering conditioner, shampoo, soap, and anything else she may need alphabetic.

Don't baby her too much, it is extremely frustrating when you're being asked every ten seconds if you ned help, even if you're just trying to be helpful.

Yep, dobt bother with apps for just 3 days. Have some cd audio books for her or kindle as she might be bored and TV, reading a book, board game etc may not be possible. And safety first, steps, rugs, sharp edges on furniture, glass doors are all things to be careful about but it is only 3 days, she might be tired, bored or frustrated but don't mother her!
