You could try pre-emptively to quit driving. Or you can consult with an optometrist to get a time table or something that may help you. But honestly the only way to know is to get tests often to see how well your vision is.

I think I would try to start weaning off driving. Perhaps only drive during the day or whenever your vision feels "best" for you. Start using or getting familiar with public transportation or ride sharing services while you still have sight. for example I use Lyft all the time because they have a light in the front windscreen so I can tell which car is mine and not risk getting into the wrong car. Good luck to you.

How often are you seeing your eye doctor? If it is every month or two, and you feel comfortable driving, you should be ok. Every state has different legal requirements for a driver's vision. Tell your doc that you want to know when you reach that point. If you aren't going to have a vision test for a longer stretch of time, you'll want to err on the side of caution. Trust your gut. I stopped driving at night before I was officially diagnosed with night blindness because I was so anxious about driving in the dark, but couldn't pinpoint why. I only drive locally on familiar roads (no highways) during the day and if my eye is flaring I don't drive at all. If you live near public transportation, get familiar with it. Best of luck!
