Does anyone have a suggestion for an ideal robot vacuum for the blind? (self.Blind)
submitted by homerq
I have two aging family members, one with very little eyesight and one with none at all, that are very interested in a robot vacuum -- especially if it also mops. There is a dizzying array of products with an even larger array of features. My concern is accessibility. I need a product that is minimally complex and as automated as possible.

I have a ruoommba. The app on iOS is very accessible. As far as the machine, The buttons are easy to understand and troubleshoot, and it’s easy to clean up the machine as well.

My problem is that I'm trying to find something for a pre-digital age elderly blind family member that doesn't use anything even close to a smartphone. They do however use an Amazon Echo. I'm looking into self-emptying models that can be used on demand via the Echo.

I think even the self emptying one you still need to clean the brush and the bristles of the vacuum once in a while; it’s part of The maintenance of the machine.

That's a very good point. I did see a Shark model with a self-cleaning brush roller.
