references manager (self.Blind)
submitted by ukifrit
do you use any software to manage references, like mendeley, zotero and others? I think it would be very useful for me, but according to a friend the ones I just talked about aren't accessible.

Zotero is alright. I use it and it works well enough to do pretty basic things. You can add notes for each file as a separate file and read through most of the general info about an article without needing to open it (authors, publication date, tags, abstract etc.). I don’t know what specifically you would be using the software for so I can’t add much beyond that.

mostly for when I do academic stuff and need to add citations and references. If I could save time by not needing to do all of it manually I'd be very happy

it has a feature that generates the references citation for an article for you which is pretty handy. I never trust any auto-generating software to do it 100% correct so I always still double check them or have them double checked by someone else but it saves time. For in-text citations, I have the format for doing those memorized but I think it has an option to generate those for an article as well. It’s usable. Like some features don’t work and things could certainly be labeled better but I find it to be fine. I use jaws as well btw.

Can you share some more examples of popular reference managers? I have never heard of them and curious what they're for exactly? Do you mean references as in business references or citations for research?

citations for research. They usually let you organize them the way you want, and some let you copy citations in different styles. I don't know much about them actually.

What about EasyBib?

It was useable about 5 years ago when I was still in college. Not sure if that's still the case, but I used them a lot to get my works cited pages done.

no idea, have you used it?
