People petting support dogs? (self.Blind)

I don't use a dog guide, but dog guide handlers generally have to be polite but firm that they're working and that their dog should not be disturbed. There's not really much more they can do. Guide dogs are bred and trained for their ability to ignore distractions, but even the best-trained dogs are still dogs. I've heard that children are often better behaved than adults.

Thanks for answering. This question stems from a thing I read about support animals and how people are not respectful of the request to please not distract it. Strangers accuse the owner of being “mean” because they want to pet the dog. I guess I’m just wondering if those with guide dogs (or any support dog, for that matter) actually do have to be more aggressive because people frequently ignore a clear request not to pet the dog, putting it’s owner in danger.
