Anyone use NYTimes or WashPost apps? (self.Blind)
submitted by YoYo31415
I feel like this is a stupid question, but I’ve been struggling with this, so maybe someone here can help. I use a combo of enlarged font and screen readers, but cannot figure this out. On the NYTimes app (iOS), the font size for the articles in the “Live” section at the top is smaller than the other articles. It seems unaffected by my iPad system font size, or the font size I select within the NYTimes app. Similar issue with WashPost app, certain articles have smaller font than others and I have no idea why (I have font size maximized already). Has anyone found a fix for this other than having the iPad read it to me? Am I missing something, or are they just not entirely accessible?

I actually talked to someone at the NYTimes about not being able to read the fonts in the app. They suggested sticking with the website instead because you have more control over font, boldness, and such.

I would insist to them that they need to make their app more accessible for you then.

Good to know, thanks! Though why they can’t also make the app accessible is beyond me. :/
