Question about Braille workbooks. (self.Blind)
submitted by MediumSpeedEddie
Hello!
I am using an XML file to emboss a math workbook. My question is, what is the preferred method for leaving space to leave an answer? Should I leave that area completely blank? Any insight would be appreciated!

In my experience, I received Braille math workbooks that include about half a page to write out my work and answers.

leaving actual space to write in is obviously not going to work: a perkins or similar would have to be positioned so accurately, without damaging any of the dots anywhere else. And given you can't easily correct hand-written braille, assuming enough room for every answer is a big ask.
indicate how much work is expected and accept that braille isn't print and the answers on the same page as the questions is unrealistic.

This is exactly the information I needed. Thanks for your response.

Have the person write on a different sheet of paper that’s what I’ve always done I’ve taken a brailler and written out my answers or typed them out on the computer. Also embossers may do both sides writing on one side of the paper may damage the other side.

Not a problem.

it's a shame, braille wordsearches, sudoku puzzles etc are a pain.

I’ve done a couple cells of 3-6, but I’m not sure if that’s standard operating procedure, just figured it portrayed the written text the best

I’ve done that as well, but I don’t really know if it’s the most practical way to go about it, since it just takes up unnecessary space. I’m considering leaving a colon and then a blank space for work.
