I have a recent diagnosis of mac tel, though things have not been right with my eyes for a few years. I am looking for a retinal specialist, preferably in the area in which I live (Illinois/Wisconsin). I have seen one specialist so far and I would like another evaluation. This one said that the disease doesn't really progress, which I thought was odd, as it obviously has progressed.
Anyway I find it difficult to search for a doc. I think the printed reviews are largely suspect. Is there anything in particular I should look for in a retinal specialist?

There is a facebook group about mactel 2 very good info with people all over the world dealing with our diagnoses. Its called The Macular Telangiectasia Mactel Group. You can join and ask questions plus they have files stored that are helpful. Everyone is very nice.
