I think this depends way more on your friends personality/attitude than it does the visual impairment. I am not totally blind but didnt see a huge advantage if I had full vision. My limit was WAY more my lack of physical fitness then it was being able to find the next cleat or pick a line lol.

You should totally take him. I am not totally blind, but I enjoy it. Just mak sure you explain everything to him, and start him off on something easy, and he should be fine.

Had a hard time finding the rocks there was a simple rock wall that was very easy you know blind camp but for more irregular stuff I struggled. I like it though probably could come up with a way if I tried harder. I prefered swimming. I think I just needed more practice made it 15 feet once then got tired.

Before covid I went indoor rock climbing multiple times a week, and I’m also totally blind. It’s ofc hard to stick to the specific routes on the wall, but it’s a lot of fun regardless

I loveee indoor rock climbing probably my favourite physical activity. It’s one of the only things that i don’t find any harder without sight.

I love rock climbing I had to do it for a blind training center I attended. Your friend can totally do it
