The tip about the fact that shampoo and conditioner bottles often have compatible threads and you can put pump caps on them is a really good one. I always thought I was doing that so I didn't have to be concerned about ending up with half a gallon at a time. The other good tip is to hoard your plastic straws as some of them are about the right diameter to extend the tube on your pump cap, because often the pump caps come on smaller bottles and so they don't have a long enough tube to go all the way to the bottom.
