Booze and chocolates (self.Blind)
submitted by DrillInstructorJan
I am very lucky and several of my buddies sent over nice xmas gifts. They are very lovely. I'd like to reinforce that as a couple of them know I post here. Very lovely. Please don't shun me. I'm some other Jan. Who was that? Could've been anyone.

But basically every gift I got this year was alcohol or candy, even the ones from my long-term, live-in carnal-sin life partner. My brain doesn't usually drift in this direction. Maybe this forum is making me more political. But are people thinking oh, the poor dear, she can't read books or watch movies, we'll just get her enough fire water and concentrated sugar to spend the first quarter of 2021 in a drunken or carbohydrate coma?

Still, if it's shaping up to be anything like 2020, perhaps that's for the best. Here's to the next 12 months sucking less than the previous 12. It shouldn't be hard.

Even before I started to lose my vision I had came to conclusion that consumables are the best gifts if you are in doubt. That way people won't drown into useless crap they don't need or never asked for.

Therefore I won't even to bother to guess what people would want or need and instead I opt for the safe option. You don't need to worry about what to do with your gift if it's gone before new year or has an expiration date.

and Even if you don’t like alcohol, like me, you can use it to cook. I hate beer but there are seafood that gets really tasty with some black beer on the sauce.

I think I actually saw this exact advice on the subreddit for life pro tips this year, lol.

I remember one year in secondary/high school I ended up with about 18 soaps, bubble baths , toiletries etc. I so considered it was pointed at a potential BO issue ;D but I suppose a room full of teenage students you know but dont really know toiletries are a "fancy" gift. My birthday usually falls in lent or at easter, one year I got 21 easter eggs as birthday presents

Better then getting not much of anything or nothing. This year I got a few things but yeah, mostly clothes.

Do you actually think that? I get it you’re blind but the world isn’t against you.

Just ask for cash next time.
