Social security question (self.Blind)
submitted by Crafty_Dragon_roll
I was on disability about 10 years ago(declared legally blind), but was able to get off. Unfortunately I have had to apply again. Hey all, I've recently got my medical part of my disability application taken care of. My vision has gotten worse. Now there really is no vision is my left eye at all I can't even make out shapes. They have determined that I do have a medical disability but I am not legally blind. They are now doing the non medical portion(which im not sure what that entails) to determine if i qualify. But how can I with the same conditions be legally blind the first time bit not the second. What makes me even more frustrated is that the ssa had me go to the same eye doctor as the first time. But now he's saying something different. I know my glaucoma didn't magically go away. I am thinking I need to plan for the worst, but not sure what I should be doing.

That’s kind of weird because when I applied for Social Security they told me which doctor I had to go to. I also know that it takes sometimes a bunch of times of applying to get approval but since you’ve already been through the process once I’m not sure what the deal is.

I can do that? I found a free clinic that I started going to about 2 months ago. Its the same process as last time I believe its just taking a lot longer, last time it only took 3 months and no problem. This time its already been 7 months. I haven't talked to a lawyer, didn't really think would need to because it was such an easy process last time. I will though if I need to, I didn't want to pay the fees.
