Building a tech idea that helps blind and visually impaired people in the environment, will be grateful for your feedback! (self.Blind)
submitted by KGerilovski
Hello, I'm Kris, 26,

I hope you're all doing great and have been spending time with your loved ones!

I don't want to take up too much of your valuable time, so I'll be straight and simple.

Me and a couple of friends are currently working on a tech idea that helps blind and visually impaired people feel more independent and safe in the daily routines while exploring the urban environment.

Right now we're going through a phase where the most important valuables are actually the opinions of our potential users.

It would be really grateful if you can help us shape and pivot the idea in the right direction by filling our short survey:

$1

Thanks,

Kris

Unless you have the experience of learning how to do things non-visually, which you could get, watch out about seeming to assume you can “help” blind folks
With a new invention. People are always trying to reinvent the cane, and you know what those end up in the trash. What people
Dont get is a cane is more like a pair of shoes than a piece of technology. You want good solid shoes, right for different terrains, and weather, not a fancy tech thing that will go bad in a few years. Also there is a very ableist and problematic vibe to these projects when they are kind of randomly pitched

I think you’re trying to reinvent the wheel here. I answered your survey anyway. However I do very well and what I don’t do well there’s not currently a lot to be done right now, can’t do it. GPS can only do so much. And for what I can do there’s already a bit of overcrowding of the market if you will many ways already, many people doing the same things. I would focus your project on a much less known or much less covered area. What about speaking point of sale machines and self-check out units.
