Me turning out the light as I leave a room, forgetting that I have night blindness (self.Blind)
submitted by callmeratqueen
*surprised pikachu face*

I honestly forget I’m low vision half the time lol

Same. Every night is this:
Turn off peripheral switch (powers the TV, charging stations, etc. that rise the electricity bill with no benefit for overnight use), turn off entry light, turn off living room light, turn of hallway....

Stand in hallway figuring out how I’m supposed to get to my room without walking into a wall.

Turning hallway light back on. Walking through hallway, turn on bedroom light. Turn another switch to the hallway off. Turn off bedroom light, and sleep.

Repeat in 20 hours.

I cannot relate to not having your phone and therefor strong flashlight on your person at all time.

IPhone’s current update requiring me to unlock my phone to use the flashlight has led me to too many accidental contact/selection while trying to navigate.

Once they give back the ability to swipe up to use some basic tools without having to unlock the phone I’ll be able to use it again. It’s a PITA that has me considering dumping apple for Samsung.

I'm not sure what you mean. There's a button for the flashlight right on the lock screen, and it works even when your phone is locked. As long as the screen is on so the button can be pressed, you're good. At least in iOS 14.

Really? On my Lock Screen I just have the option to enter my passcode or call 911.

Time to Google search what I did wrong.

I have no Night vision I find amusing I enjoy nighttime and can navigate the apartment in no light

No one likes to put things where they belong so I’m bound to get injured by something when I’m in the dark

Dude...I strongly suggest you sit down and explain why this is so important.I think the side people in the world get how we operate on memory and how important consistency is for us

Agreed with the other person but you may have to tell them multiple times my father does this. Left wood all over the floor I trip twice the second time I have a scrape on my thigh. Then days later he did it again. Honestly stop didn’t we talk bout this what does it take a very expensive hospital bill?

Yep it’s 2:30 am no lights and working completely in the dark my superpower. Mwahahahahaha!

I get yelled at for the opposite, wandering around the house at night with no lights on. Apparently it's a security hazard, and yes I am that blind.

🤚I use Alexa to turn lamps on and off. I can hop into bed and turn our floor lamp off from there. Wife leaves our bathroom light on and I just pray there's no dog/cat/random toys in the way as I stumble in there for a mid-night bathroom break without turning on more lights.

I think you can turn on the flashlight with Siri. It’s important that you start trying to learn how to navigate your house without using any eyesight. Also, as stated above you really need to train those site links in your house to not leave stuff out where you’re going to walk into it. That is imperative. Unless you want to start using a white cane in the house which isn’t fair if it’s your house.

I just leave the house lights on, there's no law saying I have to turn them off, and this isn't the 90s, my leds use negligible power.

Everytime. I always leave my TV on though, since it gives off enough light for me to see silhouettes. You would've thought we'd all learnt our lesson by now, but I guess it's pretty easy to forget.

this is so relatable...
